Much of Creda's history has become obscured over the decades so we'll try to tell it as best we can but if you spot any errors or omissions please feel free to point them out to us.
Creda started life as Creda T.I. (Tube Investments) which was a group of companies that ultimately became the TI Group.
T.I. was a large company with eight other companies linked to it Creda, Russell Hobbs and Raleigh are just some of them.Creda produced microwaves, washing machines, tumble dryers, cookers, ovens and hobs, At one point they reputedly make 40% of English electrical goods. At it's peak Creda made a profit of about £10 million.
Creda microwaves were built under licence from Hitachi of Japan.
Then as time marched on Creda started to make cookers for Belling as the world shrunk so there are a lot of crossovers on Creda spares and Belling spares with some even sharing the same part numbers for cookers prior to Indesit buying Hotpoint and GDHA buying Belling.
It is important to note that for Creda heating appliances, such as fires and radiators, the brand name is now owned by Redring.
For appliances, washing machines, cookers etc. the brand is now under the control of The Indesit Company and most Creda appliances are re-badged Hotpoint or Indesit machines and, in some cases, a hybrid of the two brands.
It is worth noting that Creda, along with the rest of the group, are moving toward "sealed tubs" where bearings cannot be replaced, the entire inner tub group has to be exchanged which is hardly ideal and VERY expensive. This can also be a problem if items, such a bra wires and coins etc, get stuck in the tub as often the only option is to replace the whole tub group which means the outer tub, drum and bearings all have to be exchanged.

Zanussi are all about making chores easy. Their products take care of the mess, giving you more free time.
Zanussi is a leading brand for domestic kitchen appliances in Europe. Exported from Italy since 1946, Zanussi is widely recognized for its innovative products and distinctive modern design.
The Zanussi Company began as the small workshop of Antonio Zanussi in 1916. The enterprising 26-year-old son of a blacksmith in Pordenone in Northeastern Italy began the business by making home stoves and wood-burning ovens.
In the early 1970's Zanussi sold in the UK (and for some time after) under the "Zoppas" brand name which had been acquired as well as Zanussi making it the second largest Italian appliance maker. They also produced washing machines for Hotpoint at this time which were very reliable and highly rated by users and engineers.
In the late 1970's and into the early 1980's the company had a range of washing machines which used an induction motor with a clutch pulley system. Again this range proved extremely popular and very reliable.
During this period Zanussi Professional, the catering range of appliances for commercial use, became a separate division in its own right.
In the early 1980's Zanussi launched the Jetsystem washing machine range to great acclaim whilst at the same time running the "Appliance Of Science" advertising campaign (logo from that period used) which is acknowledged as one of the most successful marketing campaigns of all time, in fact still remembered by many today. This gave the brand the impression of being forward thinking and innovative.
In 1984 Zanussi was bought by Electrolux and has recently been re-branded as Zanussi-Electrolux in line with many other Electrolux brand names. Since that time many Zanussi appliances share common components and parts with the rest of the Electrolux range, primarily Electrolux, Tricity Bendix and AEG although it is worth noting that the "John Lewis" branded machines sold by the John Lewis Partnership in the UK are effectively re-branded Zanussi appliances.
In the late 1980's Zanussi launched the split tank design known as the "Nexus Tub" design which endures till this day with little changed. The tub, base and certain other parts are made from a plastic material known as "Carboran"which can be re-used several times if recycled. To this day neither Zanussi or Electrolux has provided any way to return this material for recycling purposes.
Zanussi was started in the UK being very competitively priced with prices rising in line with the appliances rising as the marketing took hold and the popularity grew. Generally the Zanussi brand is regarded by most as a "mid-market" brand on a par with Hotpoint, Hoover and Bosch in the UK.
However in recent year there has been a noticeable increase in lower priced products bearing the Zanussi name and it now seems to be being used as more of a budget brand for Electrolux in the UK despite sharing components with many more expensive brands from the same stable such as AEG or even some John Lewis models that Electrolux produce for the retailer. So if you were thinking on an AEG model etc. then you can save by buying one of the lesser brands such as Zanussi for, in many cases, what is pretty much the same thing.
Zanussi never really cracked the built in or integrated market with the mainstay of its products being washing machines, washer dryers, tumble dryers and dishwashers although there is a substantial range of cookers, ovens, hobs and hoods available from the brand as well. There is nothing wrong with the other products, it just would seem that the company was only ever famous for the freestanding range.
Getting a fixed price Repair for your Zanussi in your local area couldn’t be easier. Rest assured, we have a local network of fully trained appliance engineers able to Repair your appliance.

Save time and energy with Whirlpool’s range of appliances. Whirlpool offer great value and lasting quality.
Founded in 1911 by Louis, Frederick and Emory Upton as the Upton Machine Company the behemoth of a company went through various changes until 1950 when the Whirlpool name was established.
Whirlpool has annual sales of over $13 billion, 68,000 employees worldwide at nearly 50 different locations, and manufactures appliances under a variety of brands as listed below.
In 1989 Whirlpool acquired the Philips home appliances division and with that Bauknecht giving Whirlpool a springboard into the European market which it has capitalised on ever since. The European division is headquartered in Italy.
After acquiring the Maytag Corporation on March 31, 2006, Whirlpool Corporation became the largest home appliance maker in the world.
In North America, Whirlpool Corporation is headquartered in Benton Harbor in Michigan and manufacturers appliances in the states of Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Ohio, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Whirlpool's best known product is the washing machine, which in the United States is today manufactured in Clyde, Ohio. The Clyde washing machine plant produces about 20,000 top-loading washing machines per day, or a total of about 4.8 million per year. The machines are produced for sale primarily in North America and Australia.
Whirlpool also have an agreement with Fisher & Paykel which allows Whirlpool to sell a re-badged version of the Dishdrawer dishwasher.
Brands That Whirlpool Own: Whirlpool, Bauknecht, Brastemp, Consul, Estate, Gladiator GarageWorks, Ignis, KIC (in South Africa), KitchenAid, Laden (France), Polar, Roper, Speed Queen Mexico (but not Speed Queen in the United States), Maytag, Admiral, Amana (appliances), Dixie-Narco, Hoover vacuums (now sold), Jade, Jenn-Air, Magic Chef
Whirlpool also manufactures under the Kenmore label, (manufactured for Sears, Roebuck and Company). Whirlpool sells more of its appliances under the "Kenmore" name than under its own "Whirlpool" brand in the US.
As the range of brand names would suggest, like other large players in the industry, Whirlpool appears to be spreading across several sectors, from budget appliances right up to the higher end. Bauknecht was supposed to represent Whirlpool in the higher end of the market but appear to be not much more than re-badged Whirlpool products.
The core Whirlpool brand appears to be budget to mid-range except on contract appliances, to kitchen companies, house builders etc. where the products seem stripped out or lower specified and sold on price.
The dust has still to settle on the acquisition of Maytag but it is expected within the industry that Whirlpool will attempt to use the brand as a more upmarket and higher ticket price route to market.

Smeg appliances are visually and technically impressive thanks to their bold designs.
Smeg was founded by Vittorio Bertazzoni in 1948 as Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla (metal enamelling factory in the village of Guastalla, Reggio Emilia). The company is still in the hands of the Bertazzoni family, currently under the direct control of Roberto Bertazzoni.
Its headquarters are a short distance from Guastalla in Northern Italy.
They are well known in the UK for their 1950's "retro" refrigerators that have curved corners and come in a variety of colours, for example blue, green and special editions as well as unique paintwork.
More recently they have expanded their product range to include integrated washing machines and washer dryers to their range of products. In addition they have scored a hit with sales on the "Opera" range of freestanding range cookers, such as the A1 which has almost become a style icon, much like the famed FAB28 fridge and its derivatives. These products, along with style led design in other areas, has led to Smeg being regarded as leading the industry in design terms and aesthetics.
Smeg have always been strong in cooking products with gas hobs, ceramic hobs, ovens and stylish cooker hoods with a designer flavor about them.
Smeg do buy in products from other companies, some of the components for the retro range of refrigeration is currently manufactured by Gorenje and they also sell products to third parties, such as dishwashers to MFI which are in turn sold under the Diplomat and Hygena brand names. However it has to be said that the quality level on some Smeg products are not up to the level that many people buying Smeg expect.
Smeg seems to focus much more on the design of the products in terms of how they look than how well built that they are.
Smeg products don't generally come cheap bar the low-end "contract" ranges which are generally only used for new build contracts, no doubt in an effort to grow the brand into this high volume area, however these products do not carry the same style as the more expensive appliances.
Products from Smeg can be found discounted on the internet and are quite pervasive on the net but are also available through a wide range of specialist kitchen retailers and the Euronics chain. Either of the latter will likely offer far better advice and be able to draw from the full range of products from Smeg.

Siemens home appliances are designed to ensure you live a life less ordinary, thanks to their excellent tech and design.
Founded in 1847, Siemens started producing vacuum cleaners and small appliances, it wasn't until 1932 that they produced their first washing machine. In 1964 Siemens started producing dishwashers then they alos produced the first pyrolitic self cleaning oven in 1970 and the first condenser dryer in 1976.
For some years now Siemens has been owned by the Bosch Group which became the Bosch Siemens Group or, BSH when the companies merged in 1967.
Siemens has traditionally been an upmarket brand and this is reflected in the pricing of the products and they tend to focus on good build quality coupled with interesting and, sometimes, innovative, designs. The "Porche" small appliance range was one such example as is the new wall mounted "Lift-O-Matic" oven about which little is known other than the name strikes us as a bit cheesy for such a supposed upmarket product.
Some Siemens products are still German made however and do tend to be higher rated by the trade than the run of the mill Bosch machines. This is however reflected in the price.
It should also be noted that there is a large commonality in components used with the much cheaper range of Bosch prodcuts.

Samsung have designed a range of home appliances complete with premium features to make everyday living a little easier.
Lee Byoung-chul established the Samsung trading company in Daegu in 1953 and Samsung built a plant to produce washing machines and refrigerators in Suwon in the early 1970's which was completed in 1973. Production of both washing machines and refrigerators started in 1974.
Samsung are not renowned for innovation in the whitegoods industry choosing to compete on price with what seems uninspiring products.
Like LG (another Korean company) in the appliance market they seem to come up with marketing hype and little support for the claims, often a lot of the "features" tend to be very much gimmicks that are scrapped and replaced with a new sales gimmick fo rthe next range. We've had silver-nano, eco-bubble, VRT, steam, diamond drums and goodness knows what else but, in the the end, very few of these features survive a single generation of washing machines. Mostly because they're not much good.
Besides this in washers about the only things of note is the move towards higher load capacity machines and the high use of LED and displays to appeal to a younger, more technology savvy customer.
In refrigeration Samsung is predominantly known for its range of American styled fridge freezers in the UK although they do also produce standard European styles of fridge freezers and also some specialised refrigeration such as wine coolers.
Recently, to add to their microwave cooking range, Samsung has introduced a range of built in ovens in the UK with a unique "Twin Convection" system as Samsung have dubbed it. According to Samsung this allows you to cook two separate dishes in the one oven of a standard size.
Samsung also produce vacuum cleaners for the UK market.
Samsung seems to sit in the middle of the price pecking order with some products commanding a higher premium than others with its washing machine and tumble dryer range.
In refrigeration they occupy the lower middle market again with standard fridge freezers but fall into the lower end with the US styled fridge freezers, normally with ice makers.
Built in ovens and Samsung's microwave oven range has historically operated in the lower to mid range of prices.
Quality has proven to be an issue across most of the major appliances for Samsung, they are a good company on electronics but cannot be said to have carried that level of quality across to their large domestic appliances.
Asides from the repeated and, well publicised issues with Samsung fridge freezers, the washing machines and cooking products are not especially highly rated by the engineers in terms of either reliability or durability.
And, like LG, Samsung appears to use gimmicks to sell products in many cases.
It would probably prove beneficial to look at alternatives from the more traditional appliance manufacturers such as Bosch, Electrolux, Zanussi, AEG and so on as a good alternative that will have far more experience in major appliances and will quite likely prove to be cheaper to buy and own.

Rangemaster are best known for their specialist quality and durable appliances.
Rangemaster's history traces back almost two hundred years, the following text is from the Rangemaster website:
"The Rangemaster story begins in 1777 (when the United States of America had only been independent of Great Britain for one year) with the enterprising John Flavel. He started a foundry specialising first in "vapour baths" inspired by the spas of Leamington; then moving into cooking appliances.
In 1803 the operation first moved to Leamington Spa where generations of the Flavel family were to become civic leaders in the town and the factory became a major local employer
The mighty Eagle Foundry was then built in 1833. On what is now the press shop area of the current Leamington site. In 1859 it was described as "the largest manufactory of it's kind in the world". The new foundry enabled John's son, William, to expand and develop his epoch-making 1830 invention, the 'Kitchener' range cooker.
Manufactured in cast iron and heated by solid fuel, the 'Kitchener' could be used to boil, roast, bake and warm, all from the same heat source. It was hailed as one of the greatest domestic institutions of the 19th Century.
Rangemaster KitchenerThe Kitchener A contemporary advertisement at the time described it as: "the most ready means of performing in the best manner, either separately or at the same time, all the operations of cooking with only one fire, and that an open one, which may be of any size to suit the kitchen of the smallest cottage, or the largest mansion or hotel.... its arrangement is so simple, in every department of the culinary process, that servants cannot easily disorder or mismanage it."
Its status was unquestioned from Queen Victoria to Edward VII, the King of Italy and the Emperor of Germany - all had "Kitchener" stove. And for all the lords and ladies of the land, it was not just a status symbol but part of the way of life as Aga was later to become.
In 1844, on the death of William Flavel, his son, Sidney Flavel, took over and ran the firm. In his hands the Kitchener continued to dominate.
In 1851, Sidney Flavel exhibited the "Kitchener" at the Great Exhibition held at Crystal Palace. The exhibition was attended by some 19,000 companies and it demonstrated the supremacy of British manufacturing at that time. Only 17 gold prize medals with special approbations were awarded and one such medal went to the "Kitchener".
The "Kitchener" was shown to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, who visited the exhibition with her aunt, the Duchess of Gloucester. The Duchess ordered a "Kitchener" for Kensington Palace.
Between 1851 and 1905 the "Kitchener" won many more awards and gold medals throughout the world. As the Victorian era wore on, the "Kitchener" went from strength to strength.
Production LineFollowing the First World War, developments in gas and electricity paved the way for the next generation of cookers. Much of the historic cast iron technology was adopted by Rangemaster's sister company Aga, passing to Alastair Darby's foundry at Coalbrookedale, where Aga and Rayburns have been made since 1946.
Sidney Flavel remained at the forefront in cooker styling and technology. The tradition of Sidney Flavel for innovation remained. Many of the developments of modern day domestic cooker technology have their origins in the development laboratories of Royal Leamington Spa. For instance, we were the first to offer colour shaded cookers, the first dual fuel cooker and the fold away grill all came from the laboratories at Leamington.
It was, however, in 1995 that an initiative was made which has created today's Rangemaster. We lo oked to our style roots and the comfortable, English country lifestyle and moved away from mass production launching the double oven cooker, the Rangemaster 110. A chord was struck immediately with our customers and a whole new market segment was created.
During the late 1990s the 110 became the key product line for the company. The links with its growing sister company, Aga-Rayburn, in Coalbrookdale increased as the focus was placed on style and cooking excellence.
Rangemaster EliteIn 2002 the initiative was taken to concentrate the business on range cooking. Rangemaster's parent, the Aga Foodservice Group, backed the decision to transform the Royal Leamington Spa site into a centre of excellence for range cooking. Mass production product lines and brands were sold and Rangemaster took back the mantle of being a premium brand cooker company.
£3 million investment programme has seen the factory enhanced and a programme undertaken to modernise the site making it a worthy descendent of Sidney Flavel's Eagle foundry development. Rangemaster now has a state of the art R & D facility which is seeing not only new products being brought to market, but ranges developed to meet the particular requirements of the European and North American markets. In addition, we have consolidated our links with the cast iron tradition of the "Kitchener" and Aga, now having cast iron pan supports made at Coalbrookdale.
We continue to innovate and develop market-leading products including ranges and built-in cookers and have widened our portfolio to include sinks, taps, wine coolers and ice-makers."

Premium, exclusive products combining innovation and design that sit at the heart of your home.
Neff is famous for its range of built in ovens and hobs primarily and has become one of the staple brands of kitchen companies throughout Europe over the past sixty years or so offering customers a good product from a good brand at attainable pricing.
Neff is an old and well respected German brand name that has been in existence since 1877 but didn't produce it's first oven until 1914 however Neff only really started to take off as a domestic appliance manufacturer in the 1950's.
Neff however is not what most people think it is.
During the latter half of the last century Neff was heavily involved with AEG Telefunken with the two companies working together to remain competitive as global corporations such as Whirlpool and Electrolux started to take hold of the mass market and encroach into the built in market. Ultimately AEG was bought by Daimler Benz in 1985 and ultimately sold to Electrolux Group in 1994.
Neff meanwhile was sold to the BSH Group, Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte in 1982 when AEG originally went bankrupt.
Today Neff is a division within the Bosch Group and used as a more upmarket offering from the more mainstream Bosch products but seems especially focused on the kitchen retailer market with limited presence in any of the major electrical chain stores.

Complete your kitchen with a New world appliance. Functional home appliances designed for you.
New World is a brand that historically has been associated with cooking products, notably freestanding cookers and was acquired in 2001 by the Glen Dimplex group and thus appears as merely a subset of the group these days.
Essentially the New World brand appears to be being used for the entry level products that the group sells these days so as not to dilute (or pollute) the more upmarket Stoves and Belling brand names.
The products look to be chopped down versions of the Stoves appliances for the most part with some Chinese refrigeration and integrated dishwashers. Some of the built in cooking products, such as built in ovens and hobs, appear to be bought in from the likes of Beko.
