Care, performance and quality are at the heart of everything with a Baumatic appliance.
Baumatic is a small appliance, home appliance and white goods producer and there is little information of the company's history available.
It sells ovens, dishwashers, refrigerators, sinks, washing machines, taps and microwaves.
As far as we aware it does not manufacture it's own products bar one or two oven models, in other words they basically resell all the products made to their designs much like CDA and others. Largely it seems to us that you are buying what is, in essence, a cheap and not so wonderful appliance over what you would pay elsewhere simply for the designs as the actual internals are much the same as many other own label products.
The brand is largely sold through kitchen retailers and some internet channels.
The company is privately held and has its headquarters in Italy which further hampers getting a lot of information about the business itself.
Much of the Baumatic laundry is supplied by Vestel, Daewoo and some others with refrigeration coming from the usual Chinese sources such as Hisense or others of that ilk, dishwashers from Midea and Haier and American fridge freezers appear to also be Daewoo.

Of course the Merloni Group has now changed its name to become "The Indesit Company" and you can find out a lot more form that link about the parent company and brand owner.
The Ariston brand will generally follow with the information regarding The Indesit Company.
However what we can find out about Ariston is that, it appears to be completely separate from the Ariston heating appliance company and has always been a part of Indesit.

AEG design innovative products packed with clever features that matter to you.
AEG's history spans over 100 years, from the founding of AEG with the purchase of the German license for Edison patents to the first electrical appliances created by Peter Behrens, the father of design.
Emil Rathenau, founder of AEG, bought the German licence for the Edison patents and in 1883 founded the German Edison Society in Berlin, which was renamed General Electricity Society (AEG, Allgemeine Elektrizitaets-Gesellschaft) in 1887.
In 1889, this company went public in Berlin with an exhibition of the first electrical heating units. On show were items such as curling tongs, cigar lighters, irons and tea kettles. The 1896 AEG catalogue already contained 80 different products, among them hotplates, coffee machines and egg cookers.
Already at that time, the technology as well as the designs were impressive. At the beginning of the century, AEG was the first industrial company that employed a designer. This was the architect Peter Behrens who in 1907 was commissioned not only to design new factories but also appliances for AEG.
AEG manufactured a range of aircraft from 1910 to 1918. During WWII AEG engineers played a significant role in developing the magnetic audio tape recorder.
The appliance side of AEG is now owned by Electrolux who bought the company in 1994.
As of around about 2008 most of the AEG appliances we'd seen were simply rebadged Electrolux products sold under other brand names such as Zanussi or Tricity Bendix with cosmetic differences mainly, but a few software and feature changes in an attempt to make them seem different.

Belling appliances are made in the UK. Combining modern technology and functional designs to suit any home.
Belling was founded in 1912 by Charles A. Belling at Lancaster Works, Enfield and enjoyed fantastic early success, trading until 1992 when it was bought by Glen Dimplex Home Appliances who also own the New World, LEC and Stoves brand names as well. In fact there are striking similarities between all three Belling, Stoves and New World products as many come from the same production facilities.
Some cooking products are still made in the UK, one of the few plants still actually manufacturing is the GDHA facility in Prescot near Liverpool.
On the whole the products aren't bad and are sold under some other brand names although, recently, all LEC and, we assume, refrigeration production for the group has moved to China. The quality of the Chinese refrigeration is, as yet unknown but most likely on a par with others from China... that would be, not so great.

Responsible for designing quality kitchen appliances, Lec appliance are affordable, simple and there’s something for every budget.
Lec Refrigeration is a dedicated manufacturer of refrigeration established for over 60 years.
Lec aims to make efficient, well engineered products for Domestic, Marine, Medical, Commercial, Scientific and Technical markets in the UK and overseas.
In 1940 Charles and Frank Purley owned a fresh fish shop and, as obtaining ice was expensive they sought a cheap method of keeping the fish in good condition had to be found. In 1942 with partner Leslie Jull they purchased a small engineering workshop in Longford Road Bognor Regis and Longford Engineering Company (L.e.c) was born. Through the war years the workshop produced munitions as well as developing a refrigeration system.
The founders obtained some land from Farmer Munday at Shripney Road Bognor Regis for £125 in 1946. This was the base from which the factory grew. In the same year their first prototype fridge was made, and the company acquired its first airplane, which was used for urgent deliveries and repairs, yes it was seriously used to do service calls, it isn't a myth. The plane was also used for transporting executives on business trips.
By 1947 the factory at Shripney Road was in full production and about 200 workers were employed. During the 1940''s Lec concentrated on their foreign export market, due to the fact that steel was in short supply and available only for the overseas trade. As a result of this 90% of all fridges Britain exported to Canada in 1948 were made by Lec, and at times 80% of all Lec fridges were for export.
In 1954 the company was renamed Lec Refrigeration Ltd.
In 1964 Lec was floated on the stock market successfully. In the same year Lec expanded to Burnley, Oldham and Northern Ireland.
Charles Purley Founder and Chairman of the board of Directors was presented with an OBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace in 1986. In October of 1991 at the age of 81 Charles Purley gave up the Chairmanship of the board, he became life president but sadly died in the December.
Sime Darby of Malaysia purchased Lec and invested £34 million into a new factory in 1994.
Then in 2003 Lec officially close their old factory with a ceremony held for employees. Long service awards were given to those employees who had worked at the company for over 20 years.
March 2005 and Lec is acquired by Glen Dimplex Home Appliances a major manufacturer with brands such as Stoves, Belling and New World. Chief Executive, Denver Hewitt said, "We are pleased to have acquired Lec and plan to continue with the management's strategy, to accelerate its growth and regain its leading position in the UK refrigeration market. We have a strong track record in acquiring and rebuilding businesses in the domestic appliance industry."
Lec Commercial products continues to be managed from the site at Bognor Regis, and Lec Domestic is now managed from GDHA head office in Prescot, Merseyside.

Apart from their extraordinary heritage, what makes Lacanche range cookers so different from other range cookers on the market today, is that they are still made to exacting standards by hand to order.
Lacanche is a very old brand hailing from France that specialises completely on range cookers and accompanying range cooker hoods, the only deviation from that focus if you can call it that, is the production of a salamader grill which, if you don't know what that is, you probably shouldn't be looking at it. Professional chefs however, will and many adore their Lacanche cooking appliances.
Much of the range of Lacanche products is available in almost bespoke configurations and colours, Lacanche is truly a unique brand in many respects.
Lacanche is distributed in the UK by Fourneaux de France (FDF) based on Poole, Dorset who also appear to distribute the E Caumartin, Westahl and Alpes Inox brands of range cookers as well.
The range cooker and hoods look to be of exceptional quality but with low volumes and no feedback from the repairers on the brand there is not enough information to form any really solid opinion on the durability or repairabiliy of the appliances. That said, it has long been recognised inthe industry that Lacanche is one of the best range cookers that money can buy and we can see no reason whatsoever to doubt that opinion.
At this level of the market there are few options as an alternative, many being supplied by FDF.

Mercury pride themselves on the design and manufacture of high end domestic range cookers, providing the highest levels of customer care to their discerning clients.
Mercury range cookers was a part of the commercial manufacturer Lincat until, in 2009, the Mercury division that made high end desgner range cookers sold the domestic appliance division to AGA Rangemaster.
Since the company was taken over by AGA we have noticed that the Thermastone cooker has vanished and that there have been several changes made to the original Mercury cooker. Whether this is better or worse is not yet known. The range has also been expanded.
The general look of the original Mercury range cooker has been retained with the "Hi-Fi_ style control knobs and handles as well as general aesthetic but, behind that there appear to have been many changes which have left us rather disappointed. Gone is the full width storage drawer at the bottom, gone are the "cattle grid burner stands and the chasis appears to be no more than a normal Rangemaster one. We expect that all these changes have been made to save on production costs but, it's just not the same and we can't help but feel that the price now seems a bit high for what looks to be, basically, a funked up Rangemaster.
Don't get us wrong, the Rangemaster cookers are really good and we highly recommend them but, they aren't a Lincat made Mercury which was a range cooker that was bordering on performance reserved for restaurants given the Lincat heritage.

Gorenje is a relatively new name to the UK marketplace but it has been around for a while with it roots going back to the village of Gorenje in Slovenia to 1950 and is a company that appears to be more forward thinking than many others in some regards.
Gorenje products in the UK are often pretty competitively priced which is of course a polite way of saying, cheap. This is likely mainly due, we expect, to the lack of any sort of brand awareness of it's main rivals. Ask most people on the street if you know who Gorenje is and they wouldn't have a clue, ask people to pronounce the name off a card and very few would get it correct (it is pronounced "gor-en-ya" in case you wondered) so very few people outside the industry know of them.
However Gorenje is a business that is over sixty years old, even if you've never heard the name before. Below is a short video on the company.
There's not really a lot of information on the washers so far other than that access to the tub unit is restricted. Cooking products are okay but nothing outstanding, but it's hard to mess up in the price ranges in which Gorenje operate, however the ovens etc. are okay in the main if not outstanding.
Refrigeration is hit and miss, but again generally it's okay. There have in the past been reported issues with the retro machines with cabinet rigidity and door sealing, don't think about one if you have an uneven floor!
However Gorenje is doing its utmost to get attention through press campaigns, design awards and some whacky products in order to ensure people have heard of them. Many products seem to be targeted to getting some design award or a certain "wow!" factor but that very few kitchens would be able to accommodate in the real world. But, if your kitchen happens to look like the interior of a nightclub then Gorenje may be just the thing for you.
To be fair however, at least Gorenje are trying new things whilst many others just put out the same old boring boxes.
On the whole about the best we can say is that the appliances "aren't too bad" given the price limitations that are foisted on the brand and the general market conditions.
Trade opinion is, frankly, divided on Gorenje as some like them, some don't but most have little or no opinion on the make which, you would suppose, means they're a little dull.

This company or brand is no longer trading and there is no active official support that we are currently aware of for either the brand or products.
No-one seems to quite know when the brand came into being or for that matter the sister "Hygena"Â brand name but both are owned entirely by the MFI furniture group.
The MFI name was created by Noel Lister and Donald Searle which was the abbreviated moniker derived from Mullard Furniture Industries. The two men had joined forces and based themselves in Edgware, North London, and used the maiden name of Donald Searle's wife for the company name.
In 1982 MFI acquired the Hygena brand name and allowed Humber Kitchens to adopt Hygena as its own trading name. Hygena had been recognised in the UK as a kitchen brand since the 1930's.
MFI acquired Schreiber Furniture in November 1988.
Howdens the trade focused venture focusing on kitchens and joinery products, was launched in October 1995.
Between 2001 and 2005 MFI and Currys had joint ventures to retail kitchens in Currys stores across the UK which were closed down.
Diplomat ceased trading as with the rest of the MFI Group in 2008.
