Please do take care to read the information thoroughly as it is there to help you understand fault codes and to keep you safe. There are also some help, tips and hints with a lot of the fault codes published here that you usually will not find anywhere else and, as we learn, we add more information so if you can't find what you need please ask in the forums.

Before using this section please understand that fault or error codes are used as a diagnostic aid, they are not a replacement for diagnostic skill on the part of the person repairing the product and are not in any way usually going to point to the precise component that is faulty. All they do is give you an idea of where to start looking for the fault.

Note: The Falcon induction hob is able to self-diagnose a number of problems and can show this information to the user via the hob control display. Error codes may be displayed if your hob has developed a fault.

If your appliance reports an error or is not working, you may be able to correct the fault by consulting the following.

The hob will not switch on

Issue:
Has the wiring system in the house blown a fuse or tripped an RCD? Has the hob been correctly connected to the mains supply? Has the child lock been activated?
Advice:
We add more information as we learn so if you can't find what you need please ask in the Repair forums. Alternatively you can book a repair online or call us on 0208 226 3633 to arrange an engineer visit. We offer fixed price Falcon Range Cooker Repairs in London.

The induction hob is noisy

Issue:
When using the induction hob there may be some ‘noise’ emitted from the pan. This is normal and may be most noticeable when cooking on high power settings or if 5 pans are used simultaneously. The type of pan may also contribute to induction ‘noise’
Advice:

The cooling fan

Issue:
The induction hob incorporates a cooling fan. This cooling fan is active when either the grill or ovens are on. Under certain conditions, the cooling fan may remain active when the grill or ovens are switched off. This is normal and the fan will switch off automatically
Advice:

A crack has appeared in the hob surface

Issue:
Disconnect the cooker immediately from the power supply and arrange for its repair.
Advice:
Do not use the cooker until after the repair.

My hob is scratched

Issue:
Always use the cleaning methods recommended in this guide, and make sure that the pan bottoms are smooth and clean.
Advice:
Marks from mineral deposits from water or food can be removed with a cleaning cream. However, tiny scratches are not removable but will become less visible in time as a result of cleaning

The oven fan is noisy

Issue:
The sound of the oven fan may change as the oven heats up – this is perfectly normal.
Advice:

Grill not cooking properly

Issue:
Are you using the pan and trivet supplied with the cooker? Is the pan being used on the runners, not the floor of the compartment? Is the grill tray pushed back fully to the ‘back stop’ position?
Advice:

The knobs get hot when I use the oven or grill. Can I avoid this?

Issue:
Yes, this is caused by heat rising from the oven or the grill, and heating them up. Do not leave the oven door open. Make sure that the grill pan is pushed right back to the ‘back stop’ when grilling.
Advice:
Always grill with the grill compartment door open.

Food is cooking too slowly, too quickly, or burning

Issue:
Cooking times may differ from your previous oven. Check that you are using the recommended temperatures and shelf positions – see the oven cooking guide.
Advice:
You can then adjust the settings according to your own individual tastes.

The oven is not cooking evenly

Issue:
Do not use a baking tray with dimensions larger than those specied in the section on ‘General Oven Tips’. If you are cooking a large item, be prepared to turn it round during cooking. If two shelves are used, check that space has been left for the heat to circulate. When a baking tray is put into the oven, make sure that it is placed centrally on the shelf. Check that the door seal is not damaged and that the door catch is adjusted so that the door is held rmly against the seal.
Advice:
A dish of water when placed on the shelf should be the same depth all over. (For example, if it is deeper at the back, then the back of the cooker should be raised up or the front lowered.) If the cooker is not level, arrange for your supplier to level it for you.

Oven temperature getting hotter as the cooker gets older

Issue:
If turning the temperature down using the oven control knob has not worked, or has only worked for a short time, then you may need a new thermostat. This should be tted by a service person.
Advice:
We add more information as we learn so if you can't find what you need please ask in the Repair forums. Alternatively you can book a repair online or call us on 0208 226 3633 to arrange an engineer visit. We offer fixed price Falcon Range Cooker Repairs in London.

The oven door is misaligned

Issue:
The bottom hinge of the left-hand oven door can be adjusted to alter the angle of the door. Loosen the bottom hinge xing screws and use the notch and a at bladed screwdriver to move the position of the hinge to set the hinge position. Retighten the hinge screws.
Advice:

Oven not coming on

Issue:
Is the power on? If not there may be something wrong with the power supply. Is the range supply on at the circuit breaker? Have you set a cooking function?
Advice:

An oven light is not working

Issue:
The bulb has probably burnt out. You can buy a replacement bulb (which is not covered under the warranty) from a good electrical shop. Ask for a 15W 240V lamp, FOR OVENS. It must be a special bulb, heat resistant to 300°C
Advice:
Turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Make sure the oven is cool. Open the oven door and remove the oven racks. Unscrew the bulb cover by turning anti-clockwise. It may be very stiff. Taking care to protect your fingers in case the bulb should shatter, unscrew the old bulb. Screw in the new bulb; screw back the bulb cover. Turn on the circuit breaker and check that the bulb now lights.

Never use electric devices for defrosting and do not scrape the ice or frost layer with sharp objects. After completed defrosting, turn the knob to desired position and close the refrigerator door. The cause of increased ice formation may be one of the following: − the door does not seal well (clean the gasket if it is contaminated, or replace it if it is damaged); − the door was frequently opened or it was left opened for too long; − the food stored in the refrigerator was warm; − the food or dish is touching the inner back wall.

The Freezer Door is Hard to Open

Issue:
If you want to open the door that has just or recently been closed, you may find it hard to open. Noise

Issue:
Cooling in refrigerating-freezing appliances is enabled by the cooling system with compressor, which produces noise. How noisy the appliance is depends on where it is placed, how it is used and how old the appliance is.
  • - During the operation of the compressor the noise of liquid is heard and when the compressor is not operating, the refrigerant flow is heard. This is a normal condition and it has no influence whatsoever on the lifetime of the appliance.
  • - After starting the appliance, the operation of the compressor and the refrigerant flow may be louder, which does not mean that something is wrong with the appliance and it has no influence on the lifetime of the appliance. Gradually the noise is reduced.
  • - Sometimes unusual and stronger noise is heard, which is rather unusual for the appliance. This noise is often a consequence of inadequate placing. − The appliance shall be placed and levelled firmly on solid base. − It should not touch the wall or kitchen units standing next to it. − Check the accesories in the interior of the appliance, they should be placed correctly in their positions; also check the bottles, tins and other vessels that might touch each other and rattle.
