How to separate Creda IWD 12 Washing Machine drum

Does anyone know how to split the drum on a Creda washer/drier model IWD 12? Both halves are stainless steel and it appears that the front lip needs to be bent back around the whole of the drum to remove the front cover. Is this correct or is there an easier way?
