Fault codes or error codes for appliances including washing machines, washer dryers, cookers, dishwashers and fridges.

Error codes for AEG Hob

  • Product Types: Hob

Please do take care to read the information thoroughly as it is there to help you understand fault codes and to keep you safe. There are also some help, tips and hints with a lot of the fault codes published here that you usually will not find anywhere else and, as we learn, we add more information so if you can't find what you need please ask in the forums.

Before using this section please understand that fault or error codes are used as a diagnostic aid, they are not a replacement for diagnostic skill on the part of the person repairing the product and are not in any way usually going to point to the precise component that is faulty. All they do is give you an idea of where to start looking for the fault.

My Hob is showing an error message: There can be 2 types of error codes:

E8

Communication

Fault description:
Alarm display in the User interface
Possible root cause:
Communication / wiring Induction module to User Interface interrupted. Centre wire of RAST2.5 plug defect. On right Induction module defect or no mains supply. (always if only both right zones with Alarm)
Troubleshooting:
  • 1) If only both right zones with Alarm : check 230VAC between N and both Phase connection label on bottom of appliance.
  • 2) If okay check wiring between Induction module and the User Interface (Centre wire) or short circuit in RAST2.5 plug (XC01 see Fig. 1). If necessary replace.
  • 3) Replace right Induction module.
  • 4) If above without success, replace User Interface.

If the root cause is the User Interface:

You must change both User interfaces , due to the compatibility between left and right User interface.

In general:

All the stock of spare parts User interfaces have the new Firmware on it to solve the problem .

New production of appliances:

The new production of appliances since Serial number 944…. has the new Software on the User interface to solve the problems with E0/ E1 and E8. From this production date you can change only the affected User interface.

F

My hob shows the error message "F" in the display.

Issue:
Code "F" is shown continuously:
This indicates a connection fault. A phase connection is missing. Electric hob has to be connected, by an approved installer, on 2 separate 230V phases. Your (approved) installer can check this.
Code "F" is shown flashing:
F-flashing indicates a problem with the pan recognition. Pan must meet certain material properties, minimal diameter and thickness per zone, as described in the user instructions. You can check the correct operation yourself with a cast-iron pan. If this is correctly recognised by the hob, the problem is with the pans. You should contact the pan supplier.
Advice:

- Now first press the "-" and the "+" buttons in the right front zone simultaneously;
- Then press the "-" button.

H

Cooking/Hob/Error code & Alarms

Advice:
When the corresponding cooking zone cools down, this symbol will disappear.

A

My hob shows the error message "A" in the display.

Issue:
An "A" in the display is a sign that the Simmer function is switched on (see also user instructions).
With the simmer function the appliance can be switched on at a low temperature, e.g. 3, but the appliance goes straight to position 9 until it boils (hence the complaint: zone becomes very hot).
This function is normally switched on automatically if the zone is switched on using the "+" button.
If the "-" button is used for this, the function remains switched Off.
- The simmer function is not active in position 1 and 9;
- The simmer function is active for 20 seconds in position 2;
- The simmer function is active for approximately 3 minutes in position 3;
- The simmer function is active for approximately 6 minutes in position 4;
- The simmer function is active for approximately 10 minutes in position 5;
- The simmer function is active for approximately 1.5 minutes in position 6;

ESD = electrostatic discharge

As the single electronic interfaces are not protected internally against statical electricity and are partially open, you must pay attention to that, in case of a repair, there will be a potential compensation via the housing of the appliance (touch it) in order to neutralize a possible charging and to prevent a damaging of the affected electronic interface.You also have to be careful with those electronics delivered as spare parts, which have to be putout of the ESD protective package only after a potential compensation (discharge of possible statical electricity).If a potential compensation with an existing static electricity is not executed, it does not mean that the electronic is damaged directly. Consequential damages may result due to the damaging of internal structures which arise only in case of load through temperature and current.Endangered are all assembly groups which are provided with control entries, wire paths lying open and free-accessible processors.
