Ariston Cooker & Oven Error codes

These error code explanations can help you diagnose a problem with your Ariston Cooker & Oven.

Clock button

The “Clock button” and the digits on the display flash.

Issue:
The appliance has just been connected to the electricity mains or there has been a blackout.
Advice:
Set the clock.

A programmed cooking mode does not start

Issue:
There has been a blackout.
Advice:
Reprogram the cooking mode.

Clock button

Only the high luminosity “Clock button” is lit.

Issue:
The appliance is in standby mode
Advice:
Press any button to exit standby mode.

“Hot”

An automatic mode has been selected. “Hot” appears on the display and cooking does not start.

Issue:
The temperature inside the oven is higher than the suggested value for the selected mode.
Advice:
Wait for the oven to cool down.

Fan-assisted cooking has been selected and the food looks burnt.

Issue:
Positions 1 and 5: the direct heat could cause temperature-sensitive
Advice:
We recommend switching dripping pan positions halfway through cooking.

Display does not light.

Issue:
Oven not connected to a power source. Electronic board not functioning.
Advice:

The bulb is not working.

Issue:
Bulb has blown. The oven is not connected. The fuse has blown.
Advice:
  • Change the bulb.
  • Connect the oven.
  • Change the circuit fuse.

Water or steam leak around the door during cooking.

Issue:
The door is not properly closed. The door seal is defective.

"Low"

The burner does not remain on when set to "Low".

Issue:
Check to make sure that:
  • The gas holes are not clogged.
  • There are no draughts near the cooking surface.
  • The minimum has been adjusted correctly (see the section entitled, "Adjusting the low flame").

The cookware is not stable.

Issue:
Check to make sure that:
  • The bottom of the cookware is perfectly flat.
  • The cookware is centered correctly on the burner.
If, despite all these checks, the appliance does not function properly and the problem persists, call the Customer Service Centre, informing them of:
  • The type of problem.
  • The abbreviation used to identify the model (Mod. ...) as indicated on the warranty.

The burner does not light or the flame is not uniform around the burner.

Issue:
Check to make sure that:
  • The gas holes on the burner are not clogged;
  • All the removable parts that make up the burner are mounted correctly;
  • There are no draughts around the cooking surface.

The flame does not stay on

Issue:
Check to make sure that:
  • You press the knob all the way in;
  • You keep the knob pressed in long enough to activate the safety device.
  • The gas holes are not clogged in the area corresponding to the safety device.

Smoke

Slight odour or small amount of smoke when grill/oven used for first time.

Issue:
This is normal and should cease after a short period.
Advice:
This is normal, no remedy required.

Oven cooks too fast or too slow.

Issue:
Check that the oven setting and shelf positions are as recommended in the Cooking Charts. However, it may be necessary to increase or decrease the recommended setting slightly to suit your taste.

Ignition does not work:

Issue:
Ignition does not work
Advice:
If all burners fail to ignite: Check that sparks appear at the burners; a clicking noise should be heard. If not;
  • Check that the electricity supply is turned on.
  • Check other appliances to see if you have had a power cut.
If only one burner fails to ignite:
  • Check the burner cap is seated correctly.
  • Check the slots in the burner bodies are not blocked with any soap residue or cooking soil (see care and cleaning).
  • Check, if the burners have recently been cleaned using a wire wool pad eg. "Brillo Pad', ensure that no stray strands are caught on the ignitor or burner body.

Light

Oven light does not work

Issue:
The oven lamp is not covered by the guarantee. The part is easily changed
Advice:

Draught from beneath control panel

Issue:
A gentle flow of air will be blown from beneath the control panel when the appliance is used. If the appliance is still warm, this cooling fan may run on, or restart itself when all controls have been turned off. The fan will stop once the appliance has been cooled.
Advice:
This is normal and not a fault.

Steam / Condensation in the oven after use.

Issue:
Steam is a by - product of cooking any food with a high water content.
Advice:
To help minimise always:
  • a) Try to avoid leaving food in the oven to cool after being cooked.
  • b) Use a covered container, wherever possible.
