Error codes for LG Dishwasher

  • Product Types: Dishwasher

Please do take care to read the information thoroughly as it is there to help you understand fault codes and to keep you safe. There are also some help, tips and hints with a lot of the fault codes published here that you usually will not find anywhere else and, as we learn, we add more information so if you can't find what you need please ask in the forums.

Before using this section please understand that fault or error codes are used as a diagnostic aid, they are not a replacement for diagnostic skill on the part of the person repairing the product and are not in any way usually going to point to the precise component that is faulty. All they do is give you an idea of where to start looking for the fault.

Water inlet error

Issue:
The dishwasher didn’t fill to the normal water level within 10 minutes. Check that the water supply cut-off valve for the dishwasher is fully open. Check the water inlet supply hose for a kink. Unplug the dishwasher and shut off the water supply, and then check the filter screen on the inlet water valve for a clog—replace the inlet water valve if the filter screen is clogged. Check the water level sensing system and replace damaged components.
Advice:

An IE error code indicates that the level of water in the unit did not get high enough after 10 minutes of filling. To resolve this error, please check the following:

  1. Make sure the water supply valve has been turned on.

  2. Inspect the water line for kinks or bends that may be prevent proper filling.

  3. Check the leveling of your dishwasher as improper leveling may cause IE.

  4. Water pressure must be between 20 - 120 PSI. If this is too low, contact a plumber to correct the issue.

  5. If your drain hose outlet is installed lower than the base of your dishwasher, it is possible that this could cause premature draining.

  6. The height of the drain hose end must be over 10 inches from the bottom of the dishwasher to avoid water being siphoned from the tub. In this case, reinstall it according to the instructions in the owner's manual. You can download a copy from our Manuals and Documents

  7. If your dishwasher is installed in a location where parts of it could be exposed to temperatures below freezing, it is possible for parts of the dishwasher to freeze. Melt the frozen parts by soaking a towel in warm water and wrapping it around the frozen area. Once the frozen area has thawed the dishwasher should be able to operate.

If you perform all the above steps and the the IE error code persist, the unit will require a repair service.

AE / E1

AE or E1 Error Code

Issue:

AE or E1 error code means that there could be a leak in the unit. Often times these leaks are a result of improper installation, detergent usage or improper loading.

Advice:

If your drain hose outlet is installed lower than the base of your dishwasher, it is possible that this could cause premature draining. This can result in an E1 error. The height of the drain hose end must be over 10 inches from the bottom of the dishwasher to avoid water being siphoned from the tub. Also, check your drain hose for cracks or other damage that may cause leaking.

If there is water leaking from the door of your dishwasher, check for any damage around the door. If there is any damage to the door seal, it will need to be replaced.

If you are using a detergent that is not intended for automatic dishwashers, it is possible that your dishwasher may have filled suds. When this happens, the dishwasher will not be able to wash or rinse properly, and the E1 code will appear. Use only detergents that are intended for use in automatic dishwashers.

Large pots, pans, or bowls that are positioned so that they are retaining the water that fills the dishwasher may cause the unit to think that there is a leak. Be sure that all dishes loaded inside the dishwasher are loaded in the racks correctly so they do not retain water.

2H

2H - Estimated Time

Issue:

A 2H is only an indicator of the estimated time remaining for the cycle, this is NOT an error code and does NOT require a repair service.

Advice:

CD

Advice:

With LG dishwashers if the door doesn't shut properly then this could be a sign the hinges need replacing. We always recommend changing the hinges on both sides to ensure alignment.
