Fault codes or error codes for appliances including washing machines, washer dryers, cookers, dishwashers and fridges.

Error codes for Smeg Dishwasher

  • Product Types: Dishwasher

Please do take care to read the information thoroughly as it is there to help you understand fault codes and to keep you safe. There are also some help, tips and hints with a lot of the fault codes published here that you usually will not find anywhere else and, as we learn, we add more information so if you can't find what you need please ask in the forums.

Before using this section please understand that fault or error codes are used as a diagnostic aid, they are not a replacement for diagnostic skill on the part of the person repairing the product and are not in any way usually going to point to the precise component that is faulty. All they do is give you an idea of where to start looking for the fault.

Smeg Dishwasher Error codes

These error code explanations can help you diagnose a problem with your Smeg Dishwasher.

E1

Aquastop floating intervention - Water Leak

Issue:
If your Smeg dishwasher is showing an E01 or an E02 error code on the display, the possible cause may be that water is leaking in the base of the machine. This alarm is generated when the floater switch of the anti-overflowing system is kept “closed” by the water in the tray. In this situation, the drain pump is connected till the switch returns in the “open” position. It is necessary to check if there are leakages of water coming from the tank, the aquastop pipe or the components located in the base ( washing pump, drain pump, defalcator turbine…).
Advice:
if there is not water in the tray, check that the floater keeps closed the switch for a wrong positioning. Build up of water in the base that may be causing an overflow - check this by tipping the machine slightly to one side, allowing excess water to flow away onto the floor. Ensure there is no holes or damage to any of the internal parts causing the leak into the base. A combination of error codes may be displayed or by a resounding tone, which will indicate the anti-flood switch being turned on due to leaks.

E2

Safety pressostat intervention

Issue:

This alarm is generated when the safety level (PRS1) intervenes, both when there is or there is not the full tank signal (PL0). In this situation, the programme is not immediately stopped, but however the tank is emptied and then filled. The water quantity, in this case, is decreased. This situation can happen max 3 times consecutively in a washing programme, after these 3 times the programme stops signalling the anomaly.

This defect can be caused by:

  • Defective pressostat level
  • Difficult to connect the pump or faulty washing pump
  • Water in the safety pressostat pipe
  • Filling solenoid valve with high flow rate
  • Electronic card which does not read the “full” signal
Advice:
We add more information as we learn so if you can't find what you need please ask in the Repair forums. Alternatively you can book a repair online or call us on 0208 226 3633 to arrange an engineer visit. We offer fixed price Smeg Dishwasher Repairs in London.

E3

Heating Element - No heating

Issue:

This alarm is generated when the heating system is not enough quick (less than 1.5°C 20min).

This defect can be caused by:

  • Defective heating resistance
  • The temperature sensor is not properly positioned
  • Faulty washing pump (water does not flow)
  • Sprayer\s does not\ do not freely turns\ turn.
  • Electric connections are not prope
Advice:
Check the wash load as this may be a good indication that the heater has not come on during the drying phase. Check the heating element is working by using a multimeter.
We add more information as we learn so if you can't find what you need please ask in the Repair forums. Alternatively you can book a repair online or call us on 0208 226 3633 to arrange an engineer visit. We offer fixed price Smeg Dishwasher Repairs in London.

E4

Temperature Sensor - Temperature sensor disconnected

Issue:
This alarm is generated when the machine starts and when the temperature sensor is disconnected. The NTC sensor in your dishwasher monitors the water temperature, which allows the control board to administer the water heater. If the sensor fails and its resistance is outside the normal limits the control board will recognise this and show this error.
Advice:
It is uncommon that this fault appears “spontaneously” as it usually happens after an intervention concerning wiring (change of the electronic or the detergent dispenser). If this appears, check the electric connections in the temperature sensor and in the electric card. If the fault persists, please arrange an engineer visit. We offer fixed price Smeg Dishwasher Repairs in London, you can book a repair online or call us on 0208 226 3633 to arrange an engineer visit.

E5

Solenoid Inlet Valve - No filling - Water fails to fills

Issue:

The E05 error code is usually associated with a water filling issue. This alarm is generated during the filling phase if the foreseen filling is not reached within 7 minutes.

This defect can be caused by:

  • Water tap turned off.
  • Drain pipe closed or obstructed
  • Defective solenoid valve
  • Electric connections are not properly connected
  • Defective electronic card
Advice:
Check the solenoid valve flow meter for any signs of damage. Remove the fill hose. Carefully remove the small filter from the inside of the valve or the hose seal filter if fitted and inspect for blockages. If the filter is clear, the solenoid valve is likely to need replacing.
We add more information as we learn so if you can't find what you need please ask in the Repair forums. Alternatively you can book a repair online or call us on 0208 226 3633 to arrange an engineer visit. We offer fixed price Smeg Dishwasher Repairs in London.

E6

No drain - Defective Drain Pump

Issue:

This alarm is generated during the drain phases if empty (PL0) is not reached within max 3 min; drain is tried 3 times and each attempt lasts 1 min, after these 3 times the machine points out the defect.

This defect can be caused by:

  • Defective drain pump
  • Defective pressostat level (the contact remains on full)
  • The drain pipe is not properly positioned, is closed or is obstructed
  • Electric connections are not properly connected
  • Defective electric card
Advice:
Always check that the most recent program has finished - and not ended mid-way through a cycle. Glassware can break while being washed in the dishwasher. When this occurs the broken fragments may become lodged within the pump. To check for glass, or any other objects blocking the pump, you need to access the pump and carefully remove any debris. However, do remember that broken glass may be causing the blockage and so please take care in removing it - to avoid injuries. If there is no blockage then, unfortunately, you could be facing a faulty pump. If this is the case then a replacement would need to be fitted.

E7

Flow Meter - Defective turbine functioning

Issue:

This alarm is generated when the timer card does not detect the signal comig from the turbine.

This defect can cause by:

  • Defective turbine
  • Turbine electric connections wet
  • Electric connections are not properly connected
  • Defective electric card
Advice:
To access the flow switch, remove the top lid and the left side outer panel. Depending on your model the flow sensor may be in the pipe after the water inlet valve or the plastic chamber on the side. Inspect the flow switch for any signs of corrosion that may have caused damage.

Defective alternate valve functioning

Issue:

This alarm is generated when the programme starts and the timer card does not detect the signal that the alternate valve is positioned.

This defect can be caused by:

  • Defective alternate valve
  • Electric connections are not properly positioned
  • Electric connections are not properly positioned
Advice:

E9

Max tank water level exceeded (only versions with turbine)

Issue:

This alarm is generated when the full tank signal (PL0) lacks and a filled limit water level equal to 7,5 litres is reached. In this case, the machine stops the programme and points out the defect.

This defect can be caused by:

  • Defective press start level
  • The electronic card is not able to read the full signal
Advice:
